Dear Parents and Caregivers,
My name is Cindy Johnson, and I am the co founder of Johnson’s JellyBeans. I am a special education child advocate and tutor who supports children and families when learning or school feels hard. I am also proud to share that I recently became an author.
I am also a parent of a neurodivergent child. For over sixteen years, I have walked this journey alongside my own son, who is autistic and struggles with dyslexia. Our experience in public school showed me how confusing, overwhelming, and isolating the system can feel for families. Those experiences are what led me to this work.
I hold a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Wyoming and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix. I previously taught kindergarten in Sierra Vista Unified School District. While teaching, I saw many children who needed more support than they were receiving. I also saw parents who wanted to help but did not always know where to start. I saw educators who were doing their best while under stress and with limited support for the complex situations they faced. This is when I shifted my focus from the classroom to advocacy and individualized support.
As a Board Certified Advocate for Special Education, I support families with IEP and 504 planning, school meetings, and understanding their child’s educational rights. I believe collaboration matters. When families, educators, and advocates work together, children are more likely to succeed.
Through Johnson’s JellyBeans, I also provide tutoring support for students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. Tutoring is flexible and based on each child’s needs. Lessons are shared with parents through Google Slides so families can clearly see what is being worked on and how progress is being made. I focus on both academic skills and emotional regulation, because learning works best when children feel safe and understood.
My goal is simple. I want children to feel supported, capable, and valued. I want parents to feel informed and confident. Most of all, I want families to know they do not have to navigate this system alone.
If you have questions or would like to talk about how I can support your child or family, please feel free to reach out.
Warmly,
Cindy Johnson
